MCLEAN, Virginia — Hilton recently unveiled the Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique, expanding Hilton’s luxury portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America. Situated on the shores of Playa Penca on Punta Cacique, the 188-room resort provides views of Costa Rica’s Northern Pacific Coast and 10,000 square feet of versatile meeting space. The resort combines elegant service with curated local programming, inviting travelers to immerse themselves in the essence of Costa Rica and embrace the “Pura Vida” lifestyle.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique, a significant addition to our presence in the region,” said Danny Hughes, president, Americas, Hilton. “This property marks the debut of the brand in Costa Rica and offers guests an unparalleled level of luxury and our signature Waldorf Astoria hospitality.”
The property boasts 10,000 square feet of versatile meeting and event space, featuring ocean views and verdant greenery. Both the 3,455-square-foot grand ballroom and the 1,540-square-foot junior ballroom can be divided, and the resort also offers an event lawn.
The ceremonial pavilion is an indoor setting for bespoke events and receptions. Outdoors, the resort’s ceremonial terrace and white-sand beach offer a dramatic backdrop for groups. Each ceremonial pavilion can host up to 100 guests. The resort also provides audiovisual equipment, gourmet on-site catering and versatile space configurations.
Located 25 minutes from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, the resort provides easy access to premier attractions and nearby beach towns while maintaining exclusivity and serenity.
Upon arrival, guests will enter the building reception and Terrace Bar, with sweeping, panoramic views of Playa Penca. Pathways guide guests to their rooms and to the vibrant public area known as Poblado, featuring dining venues and the traditional Waldorf Astoria Clock. The journey continues through a cascading sequence of pools and waterfalls, culminating in an elevated path that leads to the Beach Lounge and the Sunset Rooftop.
The property’s 148 guest rooms and 40 suites offer views of Punta Caciques’ lush forests and pristine beaches. Guest rooms feature modern touches and earthy tones, while terraces and balconies invite the outdoors in, and 22 of the 40 suites feature private plunge pools.
At the multi-level pool, water cascades from the highest tiers to the lowest, with loungers just below the water’s surface and cushioned sunbeds on the deck encircling the pool. Just steps away, guests will find a secluded stretch of beach with deluxe loungers, cabanas and umbrellas, as well as year-round swimming, paddleboarding and boating.
The resort boasts six culinary experiences, each infused with the flavors and traditions of Guanacaste, that prioritize local ingredients sourced from small-scale farms and nearby plantations.
La Finca, the resort’s signature restaurant, serves fresh-caught seafood and grass-fed beef prepared using Chorotega harvesting techniques and incorporating maize-based ingredients from the region. Tico-Tica is an all-day dining restaurant anchored around an open kitchen where the culinary team cooks over open flames. Other food and beverage options include Peacock Alley Bar, which serves small plates and craft cocktails; Buena Nota Bakery & Coffee Shop, offering fresh, tropical treats and artisan coffee; Copo y Cono Ice Cream Shop, scooping up locally flavored ice creams; and Vida Pool & Grill, which provides a coastal dining experience with Latin-inspired dishes.
The Spa at Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta spans 17,000-square-feet and features 11 treatment rooms, pre- and post-treatment lounges, saunas, steam rooms and a jacuzzi. Guests can experience a selection of therapies and rituals that blend ancient regional wellness with innovative practices.
The resort also offers a fully equipped fitness center, a fitness pool and an open-air yoga studio, as well as a diverse range of programming for all ages, including guided meditation and various movement classes.
Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique provides a collection of immersive explorations for guests of all ages, such as a private tour to coffee plantations to learn about coffee production and to enjoy a coffee tasting. Hands-on activities, like chocolate sculpting, farm tours and more, have been designed to connect visitors with the destination.
