SANDUSKY, Ohio – Kalahari Resort, with the largest indoor water park in the United States, has expanded its convention center. In early January, the resort unveiled a $22 million addition that doubled the size of its current convention center.

More than 215,000 square feet of meeting space was added, the equivalent of three football fields. The décor keeps with the resort’s African theme through African artwork and furnishings.

“We pride ourselves in striking the right balance of features for convention guests and leisure travelers to ensure that each has a top-notch, yet very different experience,” said Todd Nelson, president and owner of Kalahari Resorts. “This expansion further demonstrates our commitment to building a premier meeting and convention venue in Northeast Ohio.”

The new 38,000-square-foot Kilimanjaro Ballroom can seat 2,620 people for dinner; 30,000 square feet of meeting space can be divided into as many as 39 function rooms. Other amenities include complimentary wireless Internet access, a built-in sound system, built-in bars and high-definition projectors.

Meeting planners can choose among team-building exercises, such as a high ropes course, laser tag and interactive cooking demos. For more information, visit www.kalahariresorts.com/oh.
