What’s new in Ohio

Great Wolf clients’ wish is granted

MASON, Ohio — When its clients asked for an outdoor event space, the Great Wolf Lodge, north of Cincinnati, complied and opened a covered pavilion that it expects to use nearly year-round.
The three-season, 2,400-square-foot structure that opened this fall is adjacent to the resort’s conference center but is not connected to it by doorways.

The pavilion is outfitted with a two-sided stone fireplace and has its own bar. It can be dressed up for formal occasions with lighting and other decor or used as is for casual cookouts and barbecues.

Although the resort did have a few patios off some meeting rooms that could be used for breaks, this is the first outdoor event space for Great Wolf.

“We can do unique patio events, parties and meetings,” said Susie Storey, communications director for Great Wolf Resorts. “It creates new experiences and ambiance for our clients.”

The resort has 401 guest rooms, many of them suites that are suited to families. Great Wolf is known for its massive indoor water park. Its indoor meeting space breaks into as many as 15 rooms, or it can be used as one space to seat up to 600 people.
