The Wildbirch Hotel Now Open in Downtown Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The 252-key Wildbirch Hotel recently opened in the heart of Anchorage’s Mushing District, becoming the city’s first lifestyle boutique property and the newest hotel lodging option in 20 years. This locally owned lifestyle hotel — the first JdV by Hyatt property in Alaska — anchors the West Fourth Avenue corridor, a hub for shopping, dining and cultural experiences.

The hotel features on-site dining and 5,200 square feet of meeting and event space, as well as a communal outdoor deck with fire pits and sweeping views of Mount Susitna and Knik Arm.

Helmed by Executive Chef La Mont Caldwell, the hotel’s signature restaurant, Crimson, is a dining destination for guests and locals alike. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu offers high-end twists on Alaskan staples with a touch of Pan-American Latin flair. Al fresco dining is available seasonally on Crimson’s terrace, and small groups of up to 16 people may reserve the private dining room. Crimson’s bar serves a truncated menu, and hotel guests can enjoy in-room culinary offerings from its menu daily.

Canteen Coffee Co., located in the hotel lobby, offers espresso, coffee, fresh juices, and grab-and-go food options, along with souvenirs from local artisans.

Coming this fall, The Undertap — designed and executed in partnership with the team behind Anchorage’s Midnight Sun Brewing Co. — is a laid-back tasting room where craft beer enthusiasts can sip a unique variety of locally brewed beers. A relaxed space for private events and meetings is located adjacent to the tasting room.

“Watching this place come to life has been an honor,” said Haje Thurau, general manager of The Wildbirch Hotel. “It’s very special to see our overnight guests immerse themselves in the Anchorage lifestyle, engage with locals and discover what makes our little corner of Alaska such a magical place.”

Mash, the real estate development company behind Wildbirch, has collaborated with hotel management company Springboard Hospitality to operate the property.
