Blue Flamingo Resort Opens in Key West

KEY WEST, Florida — Blue Flamingo Resort in Key West, Florida, opened its doors in July, offering an exclusive hideaway inspired by Key West’s rich history. The resort in New Town draws on Key West’s stories, traditions and personalities to inspire its thoughtful amenities, vibrant dining and lounge concepts.

Blue Flamingo Resort is owned by BRE Hotels and managed by Highgate Hotels. The resort transformed two of Key West’s retro motor lodges into one new getaway, capturing the essence of Key West and integrating the charm of Old Town with the energy and modern fun of New Town.

The resort offers a flexible event space with a pool table, vinyl record player and colorful murals, providing a venue for social gatherings and celebrations.

The Backyard Pool & Social Club features two pools and action-driven programming led by an in-house activities concierge, creating a playground for relaxation and recreation. Its event lawn features two pools, cabanas and lounge chairs, poolside dining and two tiki bar concepts, Rum Row and Toasted Coconut. The resort also offers outdoor lawn games and activities, including a putting green, bocce ball, corn hole and more. Others can enjoy the inviting atmosphere with fire pits and intimate seating areas, which create a relaxing environment to unwind and enjoy time with friends and family.

Regular programming at The Backyard Pool & Social Club includes mainstays like daily happy hours, island music nights with live music featuring local artists, movies-under-the-stars nights, rum-and-reggae nights, flamingo Fridays parties and a karaoke cabana, a renovated airstream designed for karaoke enthusiasts. Blue Flamingo partners add to the festivities with rosé and frozé parties with La Fete du Rosé; weekly wellness programming with Phat Buddha, including starlit yoga classes, sound healing classes and wellness fairs; and a costume jubilee party, where guests are encouraged to don outrageous costumes and compete for the honor of being King or Queen for the evening.

Upon entering the lobby, guests will discover striking light fixtures, eclectic furnishings and pops of color, all setting the tone for a fun and playful atmosphere complete with a welcoming lobby bar. The property offers 245 boldly designed Ocean View, Island or Tropical accommodations with sand dune-inspired tones. Blue Flamingo Resort guest room layouts range from Deluxe Queen and King to spacious Junior Suite and Suite, and all surround The Backyard Pool & Social Club — the center of activity and energy.

“Whether looking to lounge in one of our two backyard pools or for an action-packed vacation planned by our in-house activities concierge, Blue Flamingo embraces the energy and debauchery of Key West with top-tier hospitality experiences,” said John Tolbert, SVP BRE Hotels & Resorts.

Poolside dining at Rum Row and Toasted Coconut showcase the best local flavors and island-inspired cuisine, including an array of tiki cocktails. The food menu will boast coconut shrimp, burgers, poke bowls and big fish sandwiches.

The hotel features a retail store with a curated selection of hotel-branded keepsakes, high-quality lifestyle essentials and locally inspired goods that reflect the Key West aesthetic, including sun necessities from Vacation Inc. and hand-rolled cigars from Key West’s oldest cigar factory, Rodriguez Cigars.

Blue Flamingo Resort is conveniently accessible to Key West International Airport and just minutes from popular local attractions, including Duval Street.
