SOUTHAVEN, Mississippi — The expansion of Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi, has officially broken ground. The centerpiece of the expansion is a 77,000-square-foot convention center, a significant upgrade from the current meeting space at the event complex. This larger space will make it possible to host more conferences, trade shows and special events.
In addition to the convention center expansion, another project is coming to the site at the same time — an attached, full-service Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel with 240 rooms, an on-site restaurant and a resort-style pool with a lazy river.
The combined $85 million project is a partnership between the DeSoto County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the city of Southaven and DeSoto County. Once complete, the investment will bring new opportunities for events, tourism and economic growth across the region. Officials estimate 150 events and $35 million in economic impact in the first year, as well as the creation of 340 new local jobs.
The new-and-improved Landers Center is expected to open in the fall of 2027, making it the only venue in Mississippi that combines a convention center, arena and hotel in one location.
