All about Sioux Falls’ Washington Pavilion

Since 1999, Washington Pavilion has been Sioux Falls’ premier arts, culture and science center. The downtown center has so much going on that it publishes a magazine and has a monthly show on public access television.
The pavilion’s 1,800-seat Mary W. Sommervold Hall is where Yo Yo Ma and other musicians perform and Celtic Woman and other traveling shows are staged.
Also part of the complex, the Kirby Science Discovery Center is three floors of hands-on exhibits aimed at teaching children about science; the 172-seat Wells Fargo CineDome shows recent feature films and special presentations. All of the spaces can be booked for events.
Fun group events can also be arranged at the pavilion. Among them are Uncorked Canvas or Wine on a Wheel, classes that blend work with wine so that making a painting or pottery becomes a party. Cooking classes are offered at the onsite Leonardo’s Cafe.
