Hospitality law expert to tackle contract negotiation

A DePaul University grad
Breen earned his undergraduate degree from DePaul University and while at John Marshall, served on the editorial board of the John Marshall Law Review. He also was an extern for a judge in the Chancery Division of the Cook County circuit court. His law practice focuses primarily on association intellectual property and Internet law, including trademarks, copyrights, domain names, e-commerce and privacy issues.

Breen also maintains a practice in commercial litigation, contracts and hospitality law. He is former chair of the Trade and Professional Associations Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.

Schwartz is keynote speaker
Breen is the second speaker announced for the 2012 SMM Conference. Laura Swartz, a former event planner for President Bill Clinton, will be the opening speaker when the third annual conference kicks off Sunday, Oct. 28.

Schwartz planned more than 1,000 events, including a dozen state arrival ceremonies and dinners, America’s Millenium Celebration and NATO’s 50th anniversary.

After eight years as a Washington insider, she launched her own firm, White House Strategies, in 2001. Most recently she has published “Eat, Drink and Succeed: Climb Your Way to the Top Using the Networking Power of Social Events,” which draws upon her experiences at the White House and beyond.

In her speeches, Schwartz weaves stories from her White House days into her messages about the power of networking and the planning of  major events.
