Meet at a resort in Pennsylvania

AAA Four Diamond Mount Airy Casino and Resort

Casinos bring new facet
Legislation in 2006 that allowed casinos in Pennsylvania brought a new facet to the resort sector. For instance, the 2008 opening of the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course added an adult dimension to the Hershey area, which is a child-happy resort town thanks to an amusement park, a chocolate-focused visitors center, a factory tour and ZooAmerica. The Hollywood casino has 6,500 square feet of meeting and banquet space.

In January, the Holiday Inn Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel, adjacent to the casino, completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that encompassed 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Each of the 15 meeting rooms has a catering button for prompt response to problems or concerns.

Closer to Philadelphia, the Valley Forge Casino Resort opened a year ago. The nearly 40,000-square-foot gaming floor has 600 slot machines and 50 table games. Meeting planners will appreciate the 486 guest rooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting space.

It’s also easy to like the location. Valley Forge National Park, where George Washington regrouped with his troops before crossing the Delaware River, and the colossal King of Prussia Mall are five minutes away, and Philly’s bright lights are about a half-hour’s drive east on Interstate 76.
