Legendary Location
There’s no chance that a historic site like the Savannah Theatre could ever be upstaged, especially not in its own hometown. But located right across the street from the Savannah gem is another legendary site that shares the spotlight for visiting groups. The Chippewa Square just so happens to be the spot where more than 80 percent of the movie “Forest Gump” was filmed during the famous park bench scenes. The movie prop rests in a museum, but most visitors to the Savannah Theatre can’t help but take a few minutes for a photo op on the bench in this cinematic square, possibly with a box of chocolates.
