The Global Spectrum difference

Commitment to professional staffing

Global Spectrum has grown rapidly and continues to do so, which fuels a need for well-trained staff and a steady stream of new management candidates.

As a result, the company has developed an internal program to train its employees and develop its future managers.

It includes four elements. Through an internship program, venues partner with local colleges and universities to place interns throughout all of the departments in the venue.

Global Spectrum’s orientation program educates new employees about their specific venue, but also the company as a whole, including its leadership and the company’s guiding principles.

A mentoring program matches staff members that want to develop new skills, move into new areas or move up the ladder with mentors to guide and assist them. And the Leadership Institute, which culminates with a week at company headquarters in Philadelphia, is aimed at training new management for Global Spectrum’s growing roster of venues.

The combination of training and leadership programs has given Global Spectrum the advantage of a stable workforce. “We have a very low turnover, and we are constantly promoting from within,” said Garnett. “It’s great for our clients because they get to work with the same people, over and over.”

Marketing know-how
Each venue has its own in-house marketing department, and these departments do much more than market the building’s public events. The in-house marketing team can help organizers get better ad rates to publicize their event locally if they choose to do so, provide assistance in creating collateral materials, or help the planner find local entertainment or speakers for their event.

The in-house marketing staff also works with tradeshow exhibitors who want to promote their products and their booths through in-house marketing on message boards and other means in the convention facility.

All of the programs at a Global Spectrum- managed venue are ultimately designed to provide consistency that the planner can count on and enhance the meeting planner’s experience when working in one of their venues.
