Hotel Rumbao Opens in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

BETHESDA, Maryland — Driftwood Capital recently held the grand opening of , a 245-key meeting hotel in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. After completing a nearly $22 million renovation, the property is now part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio of independent boutique hotels and managed by Driftwood Hospitality Management.

Hotel Rumbao offers nearly 7,000 square feet of meeting space in seven event rooms. With nearly 2,900 square feet, the renovated Fortaleza Ballroom can be separated into three smaller spaces. La Puntilla room spans 1,500 square feet and features shuttered doors that swing open onto a balcony view of the historic port and bay area. Planners will find two additional event rooms – with 1,280 and 1,800 square feet, respectively – as well as a dedicated boardroom and the 1,000-square-foot Kueros Bay Terrace.

With its signature blue hue, Hotel Rumbao is a standout on Old San Juan’s historic waterfront. The hotel is a short walk from the Port of San Juan, and a 20-minute drive from Luis Munoz International Airport. The property is steps away from shopping, art galleries, museums and restaurants.

The hotel’s new interior design features a color palette inspired by Caribbean flair with elements of greenery and natural woods. Large windows deliver water views and old city charm to guest rooms, while furnishings and accessories add a geometric and colorful sense to the design.

The onsite restaurant, Kueros Island Bar and Kitchen, features a menu that takes inspiration from the local culture, and pairs the dining experience with traditional dance and entertainment.
