Having an office potluck is an easy team building classic that everyone is sure to love!
For this team-building, have as many of your employees who want to participate sign up a week to a month in advance to bring in one of their favorite foods, They can either cook it at home or pick it up from somewhere, and bring it in to share with their coworkers. Let people share recipe cards or tell the story behind a particular dish to help people learn more about their fellow employees and encourage camaraderie.
Try some of these helpful tips to make the experience more enjoyable for everyone:
- Post a sign up sheet with categories if you’re going for a well-rounded meal
- Don’t require everyone to participate! Food is a good motivator on its own and some may have food allergies or other reasons not to participate that they don’t necessarily feel comfortable sharing.
- Consider having a lunch “window” of 1-2 hours where people can come and go as they please depending on their schedule.
- Try voting on a theme or choosing something around an upcoming holiday. Some ideas could be fall favorites, desserts, small bites or a Fourth of July cookout.
